Food is provided by Oxfam in an effort to encourage the children to attend school. the challenge to educate children in Mali still exists and particularly for girls. Female literacy rates never reach even 50 percent of male literacy rates. Mali has the highest percentage of people living below the poverty line in any country in the world. Ninety percent of Malians survive on less than two dollars a day.
