As an estimated 1.6 million Afghan refugees return to Afghanistan, ethnic Pashtuns and Kuchi Nomads from northern Afghanistan are seeking safety in refugee camps in the south. Numbering up to 120,000, they are fleeing the Tajik- and Uzbek-dominated cities of the north out of fear and prefer to live in a dismal camp like Zhare Dasht which is set in the middle of a desert about 30 kilometers west of Kandahar.
